I am very lucky

I had a fantastic week and I want to convert that into gratitude with reflection.

Sunday: Mother's Day. Spent the whole day with my family and enjoyed it tremendously.
Monday: Played a train game with my brother and didn't mind it.
Tuesday: Met random strangers who like spades and actually enjoyed it. This is nothing if not lucky. I also got to make some tasty sandwiches for dinner.
Wednesday: Nailed an interview. Had fantastic sandwiches for dinner. Aikido.
Thursday: Had friends over for pizza, got my toilet unclogged, drank.
Friday: Got moved to a more permanent temporary position, had the best dinner (see below) of my life.
Satuday: Hasn't happened yet, but will be diverting, certainly.

Dinner at Heartland restaurant with the sister-in-law

We were given a complimentary walleye mini-salad thing that had a flavor I hadn't tasted before (and thus required acclimation) but seemed pretty good. Lots of dill.

We got some tasty fresh bread rolls and a light fluffy butter spread.

We opted for a cheese appetizer: Hook’s Cheese Company “Blue Paradise” Wisconsin cave-aged cow milk cheese. It came with blueberries and a pear sauce and some crackers. I give the actual cheese a B, but the way it was served bumps it up to an A in my book.

My entree was fantastic: Caramelized red onion-braised rabbit confiture roulade with carrot-scallion slaw and apple mustard gastrique. I could have done without so much the carrot-scallion slaw; the rest was amazing. Holly had some and said it was like dessert. I can get behind that.

For test: Flourless chocolate gâteau with raspberry coulis, espresso sabayon, wildflower honey crème fraîche and passion fruit curd. I actually moaned with pleasure after the first bite. Took me completely aback. The pleasure I got from this dessert is as close to indescribable as I'm comfortable with.

Gaaaaaaawd.
