I'm writing this about a week post-experience, but whatevs. For some reason I was feeling very exclamatory and paranthetical. My apologies in advance.
I took my (FIXED!) bike for its first pleasure ride tonight. I wanted to go get some ice cream and see if I want to buy any books from the Half Price books on Ford Parkway (that I now live very close to!). I didn't manage to trick myself into leaving until close to 8:00.
The cars were SOOOO nice. Every single one gave me a nice wide berth and never tried to hit me or anything terrifying like that. I biked all the way down Cleveland to Ford. It felt very good.
I had driven around down here when I first moved in looking for a Byerlys and never managed to find it by car. My perspective from my dear blue bike was much clearer, though. Turns out it was a Lunds and I decided to go buy some groceries.
Lunds is soooo much better than Whole (pay more) Foods. I could find everything I wanted (even the processed foods).
That grocery trip was very successful. I went to the Dairy Queen next. I was craving butterscotch dip. It turns out the specific Dairy Queen I went to was the hangout spot for the high school kids. It was surreal locking up my bike at the local hot spot with some magical radio outside playing the Shangri-Las outside.
Inside was normal contemporary music and that memory-stunting smell you don't get with video or pictures. I sat down outside and the magical radio turned into a normal radio with a crass announcer. Oh well. The ice cream was excellent.
No longer in the mood to book shop I biked home. I am a fan of night biking.
