I perceive so much chaos in my life. The things I have to do are all very general and conform to norms of behaviors without bothering with specifics. I have no duties, only diligences. This leads me to find a great deal of comfort in the times when I am called upon to perform a very specific action.
Aikido is so wonderful because it is all a positive action followed by a negating action. You grab my wrist, I neutralize. You punch me, I dodge. Cue, action.
At work today, we had to take turns introducing ourselves to each other for about 1-3 minutes each. I had to do this 11 times. Realizing here was a time to say interesting things to strangers, I was able to enjoy the activity far more than I ever would have at another time. I got to provide the cues.
